1 Costs - When you select Vemail in your phone's app store, you'll get to choose a price. In addition to this price, Verizon Wireless may charge you extra for data or text depending on your plan.

Data - Vemail only uses data when you send or retrieve messages, attachments, contacts, or updates. Vemail is very data efficient, and won't actually retrive email messages or attachments until you select them. Vemail displays a flashing logo when it is using data. Vemail Alerts do not use data.

  • Unlimited Data - If you have a plan that includes unlimited data, then Verizon won't charge you extra for the data you use with Vemail.
  • Vcast Vpak - If you have the Vcast Vpak option, then Verizon won't charge you extra for the data you use with Vemail.
  • Plans before 11/01/07 - If you have a plan established before 11/01/07 and unmodified (no new phone) since, then one of your calling plan minutes (airtime) will be used up for each minute you are sending or retrieving with Vemail.
  • 10 MB or 25 MB Plan - If you have a data plan that includes 10 MB or 25 MB, then you will likely face no extra charges, unless you use lots of other apps in addition to Vemail. To keep an eye on your monthly data use, call #DATA (#3282) from your cell phone anytime.
  • No Data Plan - If you have no data plan, Verizon Wireless will charge you $1.99 per MB of data you use with Vemail. Keep an eye on your data use by calling #DATA (#3282) from your cell phone. If it looks like you are going to go over 5 MB per month, then call Verizon and get a data plan.

Text - If you turn on the optional Alerts service in Vemail, then you'll be automatically alerted when you have new email. One text message is used each time Vemail Alerts you (usually 1 text for each incoming email). DO NOT turn on Alerts unless you have some sort of text messaging plan with Verizon. Without a text plan, Verizon will charge you 20 cents per text. To keep an eye on text usage, call #DATA (#3282) from your cell phone anytime. If you are nearing your text plan limit, then call Verizon to upgrade your text plan or login to www.vemail.com and apply one of the filters to reduce the number of alerts. Also, you can always turn off Alerts (see Vemail Main -> Settings -> Alerts -> Alerts On-Off) and just manually start Vemail and select Retrieve Email anytime you want to check email.

Cancelling Vemail Subscription

  • Vemail 2.10 or higher - to cancel, start Vemail on your phone and select Settings, then Cancel Vemail, then Yes (this will stop any Alerts). Now delete the Vemail software off of your phone (this will stop any subscription billing).
  • Vemail 2.09 or earlier - to cancel, if you previously activated Alerts, then Login here and select Alerts, then Off, then Save. Now delete the Vemail software off of your phone (this will stop any subscription billing).
  • Changed Phones - If you have switched to a new phone, and the old phone with Vemail is no longer active, then any Vemail subscription you had is autoamtically canceled and you should not be billed for Vemail past your current mobile phone statement cycle. However, if you had Alerts turned on, then you should turn them Off to avoid any possible text message charges. To do that either 1) Login here and select Alerts, then Off, then Save, or 2) send a text or email containing the words "stop Alerts" to support@vemail.com.
If you want to use Vemail on your new phone, then download Vemail, start it, and go to Settings, then Import Settings to get your old settings back.
  • Demo - If you tried Vemail out as a 1 day free demo, then you don't need to worry about cancelling any subscription. However, if you had Alerts turned on, then you should turn them Off to avoid any possible text message charges. To do that either 1) Login here and select Alerts, then Off, then Save, or 2) send a text or email containing the words "stop Alerts" to support@vemail.com.
  • 1 Year Purchase - If you purchase Vemail for 1 year, there is no need to cancel any subscription. Such plans do not auto renew. When you try to use Vemail after the 1 year purchase period, you will be prompted to purchase it again. Please note that in most cases these purchase plans cannot be transfered from one phone to another, and are not refundable. Please also note that your phone will probably block Vemail Alerts at the end of the purchase period, until you purchase it again.
